WT20: South Africa beat Lanka by 32 runs

Highlights: World T20: South Africa Vs Sri Lanka

Chasing 79 to win off 7 overs, after a delayed start, lost 2 early wickets, which saw Lanka struggling at 20/2 after 4 overs.

Having lost Dilshan and Jayawardene early, Sri Lanka struggled to score runs as the asking rate had crossed 24 runs per over.

This again showed how Lanka choke when they are under pressure, as Sangakkara was also dismissed for 13 off the 5th over by Kallis.

A brilliant bowling display by South Africans, as Dale Steyn and Morkel bowled two overs and conceded only 16 runs off 4 overs as Steyn picked 2 crucial wickets.

With 41 needed off the last over, Sri Lanka knew they had lost the match even before playing the first ball, as they were under pressure to perform as they finished with

Moreover, since both the teams had qualified for the Super Eights, the match had no significance, but AB de Villiers' knock brightened the day and also sent out a message as South Africans are serious contenders for the title.

South Africa's Innings Report: AB de Villiers' quick-fire 30, helped South Africa post 78/4 in seven overs, as the match was reduced to 7 overs a side, against Sri Lanka at Mahindra Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium in Hambantota on Saturday.

Kulasekara responded to his captain's call by dismissing the danger man Richard Levi in the first over, after Sri Lanka decided to field first.

With Amla going good, South Africa raced to 27/1, while Rangana Herath had the last laugh as he dismissed Amla for 16 off 9 balls who was looking dangerous as he had hit three boundaries.

AB de Villiers was brilliant as he raced up to 30 off 13 deliveries, which included 2 sixes and a boundary.

Toss Report: After heavy rains delayed the start of the match, drizzle further made it worse, as it looked like this is going to be the first match to be washed out in this edition of World T20.

Due to a delay, the match had to be reduced to seven overs a side, which means only two bowlers can bowl two overs, while three bowlers can bowl an over each.

South Africa made one change as Faf du Plessis comes in for Robin Peterson while Lanka left out Ajanta Mendis from the playing XI who was nursing a side strain as Rangana Herath replaced him in the XI.

The match is expected to start at 6PM
