Lincoln, Sep 23: India A lost the third and final unofficial One Day International to New Zealand A by 65 runs here at the Bert Sutcliffe Oval on Sunday. With this the series was shared 1-1. India A had won the first game and the second was a tie.
Chasing 229 for victory, India A were bowled out for 163 in 42.1 overs. Left-arm paceman Neil Wagner was the main wicket-taker for the hosts as he finished with figures of 4/36 in 9.1 overs.
Legspinner Tarun Nethula took 3/46 in 10 overs as Indian batting failed again. Left-arm seamer Trent Boult, who was part of the India-New Zealand Test series recently and had scalped Sachin Tendulkar, took two wickets.
Unmukt Chand was India's top scorer with 46 runs. The next best came from Ashok Menaria with 30. Jalaj Saxena remained unbeaten on 26.
India were in deep trouble at 95/5 in 26.2 overs. However, Menaria and Saxena had a 47-run partnership to raise the visitors' hopes. But that was not enough as Menaria fell at the score of 142 in 33.3 overs.
India took 14.1 overs to reach 50 and the 100 came in 27.3 overs. They were never allowed to score freely by the hosts' fast bowlers.
Earlier, Daniel Flynn, Neil Broom and Derek de Boorder hit half centuries to help New Zealand post 228/8 in 50 overs. New Zealand won the toss and elected to bat.
Paceman R Vinay Kumar was India's best bowler with figures of 3/36 in 10 overs. Shami Ahmed had two wickets for 39 runs off 10 overs.
