Colombo, Sep 24: Team India skipper MS Dhoni lavished praise on the veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh, who claimed four wickets on Sunday to help India thrash England by 90 runs, said he was excellent under current circumstances.
Harbhajan Singh, who was ignored for more than a year, returned to the national T20 side and performed brilliantly, as he claimed 4/12 off his 4 overs, and sent out a message loud as he was back with a bang.
Talking about Harbhajan's performance, Dhoni said "I believe I have seen Harbhajan bowl better but under current circumstances, it was a brilliant performance. He was making a comeback and got a chance to prove that he is good and under these conditions, one tends to get desperate."
Pleased with Harbhajan's performance, Dhoni also added that he would have accepted even if the spinner had claimed two wickets.
"I would have even been happy had he got two for 24 but I believe he can bowl better," he added.
Lavishing praise on the turbanator Dhoni said Harbhajan was aggressive on field and was focused throughout the match.
"He showed an aggressive mindset and wasn't bothered too much about field placements. He was very focused on his job," the skipper said.
Dhoni also added that Harbhajan having impressed everyone on comeback, would be a certainty for other matches, as he has the ability to hit the ball hard as well.
"I would say that this problem of plenty is better than not having that one extra bowler. Obviously, I don't know who all will play in the next game but obviously Harbhajan, with his ability to slog down the order, gives us an option of playing a batsman less," Dhoni added.
