Colombo, Sep 24: Rain had the final say in West Indies-Ireland game and no result meant West Indies joined Australia in Super Eight from Group B in ICC World Twenty20 2012 here on Monday night at the R Premadasa Stadium. With both West Indies and Ireland tied with 1 point apiece, the former went through with a better net run rate. Both were in the negative. West Indies net run rate was -1.855 while Ireland's was -2.092. Australia topped the group with four points from two wins.
Only one innings was possible where Ireland batted. However, rain came down and West Indies could not chase their target. Ireland had made 129/6 in 19 overs. There was a rain delay in Ireland innings after five overs and when play resumed it was reduced to 19 overs per side. At the time Ireland were 33/1 in five overs.
West Indies have progressed to next stage without winning a game and Ireland have been eliminated.
In Super Eights, West Indies will be in Group 1 along with England, Sri Lanka and New Zealand.
