Johannesburg, Oct 11: With the qualifying round winding up on Thursday and two matches scheduled at New Wanderers Stadium today, Auckland Aces and Yorkshire have already qualified for the main draw after their successful run in the qualifiers on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Yorkshire Vs Trinidad & Tobago
Riding high on Gary Ballance's 64 off 37 balls, Yorkshire chased a competitive 149 with ease as the English county qualified for the main draw of the tournament which starts on Oct 13.
Adil Rashid (33*) also played a vital role in Yorkshire's chase as the team's top order collapsed early as the team was in deep trouble having lost 4 wickets for 51 runs off 8.3 overs.
Earlier Darren Bravo (45) and Denesh Ramdin (59) scored heavily to help Trinidad and Tobago post 148/9 in 20 overs, but couldn't stop the two players Gary Ballance and Adil Rashid as they ensured Yorkshire sailed to the main draw of the competition registering two wins in the qualifying round as they won by 6 wickets with 7 balls to spare.
Adil Rashid was named the man of the match for his superb performance which helped Yorkshire win the second qualifier of Pool 2, to enter the main draw.
Hampshire Vs Auckland Aces
In another qualifying match between Auckland and Hampshire, teh New Zealand T20 team played brilliantly after restricting Dimitri Mascarenhas-led Hampshire to 121/8 off 20 overs as they reached the target within 14.3 overs, to win by 8 wickets and move to the main draw of the tournament.
Azhar Mahmood's magnificent fifty and a brilliant spell of 5/24 ensured that Auckland registered an easy win in their second qualifier.
Now, with Trinidad & Tobago, Uva Next, Sialkot Stallions, Hampshire all losing a match each, might have to wait for the next edition to fancy their chances, as Auckland Aces and Yorkshire have already won both their qualifying matches to enter the group stage of Champions League T20 2012.
