Johannesburg, Oct 12: Delhi Daredevils' opening batsman Virender Sehwag who was advised rest for 2 weeks, has been declared fit to play the first match against Kolkata Knight Riders at Centurion after clearing the fitness test on Thursday.
Sehwag, who injured his left ankle during the last Super Eights clash against South Africa during World T20, and was advised to rest for 14 days.
"Virender Sehwag today appeared for a fitness test which was conducted by Kirk Russell. He cleared the test and was declared fit to play in the tournament from the start," a Delhi Daredevils official told PTI on Thursday.
Sehwag, also played a warm-up match against Sydney Sixers on Thursday ahead of their clash against Kolkata Knight Riders on Saturday, which also suggested that the dashing opener is all set to play the first match against KKR.
Sehwag's practice match was a disaster, as he was dismissed for a nought off Josh Hazlewood's delivery as Delhi Daredevils managed to score just 107 against Sydney Sixers, the champions of Big Bash League.
Interestingly, Mahela Jayawardene and David Warner were rested for the practice match against Sydney Sixers.
