Bangalore, Oct 16: The Hassan centre of the RC-KSCA Academy was inaugurated by former India batsman and chairman of academy, GR Viswanath recently (October 11) at the Government Science College.
The Karnataka State Cricket Association's (KSCA) vision to enlighten youngsters in sport vis-a-vis education gains ground further. KSCA Honorary Secretary Javagal Srinath when addressing parents of the trainees said that "Education must not be neglected for the sake of cricket and neither must healthy sporting activity be sacrificed using education as an excuse."
Viswanath stated he was delighted that through the efforts of the directors and coaches, the RC-KSCA academy had successfully scouted trainees through free summer coaching camps across Karnataka. The stage had been set for skills improvement in the talent pool and identifying champion players. Hassan (Shimoga Zone) has followed in the footsteps of Bangalore and Mysore by launching a state-of-the-art centre backed by human expertise and dedicated associates.
Also present on the occasion were K Jeshwanth (Assistant Director) and P V Shashikanth (Chief Coach), who expressed their views that boys from Hassan did not need to look beyond their town for the best coaching facilities. Yet another objective was of standardising and simplifying instruction. With R Ananth also as Assistant Director, the Academy has three former Karnataka first class players heading the coaching panel at the headquarters in Bangalore, backed by the knowledge of legends Viswanath and Director Syed Kirmani.
Zonal Chairman A B Sudarshan, Convener D R Nagaraj and Hassan Academy in-charge MS Suresh have played a pivotal role in setting up the centre and will provide active support as academy operations begin with thirty trainees under its care. Principal A L Muralidhar, a keen promoter of sport as a natural outlet of energies, expressed happiness at the setting up of a modern cricket facility with turf pitches on the College campus.
