CLT20: Lions stun CSK, win by 6 wickets

Cape town, Oct 17: Highveld Lions, after thrashing Mumbai Indians, stunned Chennai Super Kings, as they defeated MS Dhoni's men by 6 wickets in Cape Town during a Champions League group match on Tuesday.

Put into bat by Lions, Chennai managed to score 158/6 in 20 overs as the Kings performed better than what they did against Sydney Sixers, but the effort was not sufficient, as they lost by 6 wickets.

Playing another crucial innings Dhoni (34) alongwith Raina (20), Vijay (22) and Jadeja (21) helped Chennai post a score above 150. Though batsmen fared well compared to the previous game, the starts weren't converted into big scores, which hampered Chennai's prospects as Lions' Bodi (64), Jean Symes (39*), Neil McKenzie (32) ensured that they sealed yet another win for Lions in Champions League T20 group stage.

Bollinger was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai as he picked two wickets for 18 runs off 4 overs while others leaked many runs.

R Ashwin, who had performed well in the tournament so far, conceded 42 runs off 4 overs with a wicket to compliment his effort. Albie Morkel also conceded 35 runs off 3.3 overs and picked a wicket, but that was enough for Lions to win the group clash.

Everything is falling in place for Lions and Phangiso, who celebrated Sachin's wicket in the previous clash, managed to claim two wickets (Murali Vijay and Ravindra Jadeja) to cut the run flow as Lions registered two emphatic wins over defending champions Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings.

Phangiso's 2/17 off 4 overs was the highlight of Lions' bowling, as Chris Morris and Jean Symes were the other bowlers who tried to restrict MS Dhoni's men.

Highveld Lions, after two successive wins, face Sydney Sixers on Thursday and Yorkshire on Saturday.

Chennai Super Kings, similar to Kolkata Knight Riders have lost two matches in the group stage and face a must win situation in the remaining matches, as they are on the verge of crashing out.
