CLT20: Match abandoned; KKR crash out

Durban, Oct 18: IPL champions Kolkata Knight Riders crashed out of Champions League T20 after the group match against Perth Scorchers was called off due to rain at Durban on Wednesday.

Aware of rain playing spoilsport, Gautam Gambhir decided to bowl first after winning the toss and restricted Perth Scorchers to 91/2 off 14 overs as heavy rain stopped play.

Herschelle Gibbs was dismissed for a nought while Simon Katich and Shaun Marsh added 72 runs for the second wicket. Shaun Marsh (38) and Simon Katich (43*) ensured that Perth Scorchers do not lose too many wickets.

Kolkata Knight Riders' run in the Champions League has been very disappointing, as they lost two matches to Delhi Daredevils and Auckland Aces while the third match was washed out due to rain.

Kolkata playing their last group match against Titans in Cape Town, would like to finish the tournament on a high after being crashed out of Champions League T20.
