Kolkata, Oct 18: Bilateral ties between arch rivals India and Pakistan is all set to resume, as Kolkata's Eden Gardens is hosting the ODI that is tentatively scheduled on January 3, 2013.
"The decision is more or less unanimous that the India versus Pakistan match will be held at the Eden Gardens on January 3," said a senior CAB official on Wednesday.
India is scheduled to play 4 Test matches against England at Ahmedabad (Nov 15-19), Mumbai (Nov 23-27), Kolkata (Dec 5-9) and Nagpur (Dec 13-17) and two T20 Internationals between Dec 20 and 22 while the 5-match ODI series starts on Jan 11, 2013.
Since there is a break during that period, the cricket boards have squeezed in another ODI between India and Pakistan, which has been tentatively scheduled on January 3, 2013.
Talking about the Board's decision to host the ODI match between the rivals at Eden Gardens, CAB official said it was the right time to play the ODI at the venue.
"After discussions with board as well as with police we found January 3 as an appropriate date. It's New Year time and ideal weather for ODI cricket," he told PTI on Wednesday after the discussion.
Moreover, the day witnessed officials from England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) alongwith BCCI's Chief Operations officer Suru Nayak, who had come to check the security arrangements at the stadium, especially after the stadium was renovated ahead of the Test match between India and England starting on Dec 5.
"The England officials were very satisfied after doing a recee of the entire stadium. Since they had already played an ODI and a T20 last year after renovations were complete, they had a fair idea about the conditions," the official informed.
