Lions' win knocks CSK, MI out

Johannesburg, Oct 21: Highveld Lions defeated Yorkshire by five wickets to enter semi-finals and in the process knocked title holder Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings out of the Champions League Twenty20 on Saturday.

Scorecard; Points Table

Lions needed to win to progress to semi-finals and would mean the day's later match between Chennai and Mumbai was insignificant. From Group B, Lions qualified for knockout stage along with Australia's Sydney Sixers.

After restricting Yorkshire to 131/7 in 20 overs, Lions did not have a smooth ride towards this small target. They struggled before overhauling the score in the final over of the game. Jean Smyes played a big part as he remained unbeaten on 27 off 22 balls and sealed the semis berth with a four in the final over. He won the Man-of-the-match award.

South Africa's Lions completed their league games with 12 points. They won three matches and lost one, to Sydney.
