Pietersen's CLT20 campaign a flop show?

Bangalore, Oct 22: Delhi Daredevils' Kevin Pietersen who was recalled for England's Test series against India, hardly made an impact playing the Champions Trophy T20, as he failed miserably with the bat irrespective of the team's good run in the tournament.

Pietersen, made 23 runs off 2 matches, as a match was called off due to rain. Pietersen scored 14 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and 9 against Perth Scorchers after he was dropped from the Test squad for the third Test against South Africa a couple of weeks ago.

After his maiden stint as a commentator on Television, the stylish cricketer who was back on the field, failed to create an impact as he has scored runs at an average of 11.50 which is not satisfactory given his caliber as a batsman.

If that wasn't enough Pietersen also bowled three overs against Perth Scorchers, and leaked 26 runs in the previous match. This further added more woes, as he looked totally out of touch having missed action recently.

Pietersen who has been the second highest run-scorer in Tests this calendar year, with 715 runs off 10 matches, with a highest score of 151 against South Africa, at an average of 42.05 which includes 2 centuries and 2 half centuries, had fared quite well in the ODIs as well.

With 281 runs off 4 matches at an average of 93.66 and a highest score of 130, at a strike rate of 84.38, with 2 hundreds was in prime form when he announced his retirement.

Soon after announcing his retirement, Pietersen had to undergo a series of events, controversies, which also suggested that his Test career would end abruptly.

Though he wasn't a part of the World T20 squad, he was included in the Test squad for the 4 match Test series against India after the cricketer apologized the board and the players personally.

After a series of controversies, Kevin Pietersen is all set to return to the Test squad, as he feels there is a need to get some runs in the final Champions League T20 group math against Titans on Tuesday.

Pietersen, would like to finish CLT20 on a high before he joins his team mates for the tour of India which is slated to begin on Nov 15, 2012.
