Durban, Oct 23: Chennai Super Kings' key player Suresh Raina, who led the side after switching role with MS Dhoni, said the team had more chances to win Champions League T20, if they hadn't missed those opportunities.
Suresh Raina, who led his team to a four wicket win over Yorkshire, felt the team was capable of winning the tournament, provided they had utilised the opportunities they had got during the group stages, as they lost a couple of matches to finish third in the group.
Talking about the team's disappointing outing at Champions League T20, Raina said the team could have performed well provided they had not committed a few errors.
"It's disappointing that we did not qualify for the semifinals. I still feel we could have won this Championship. We had committed some mistakes, but we're going home," Raina said after Chennai's four wicket win against Yorkshire on Monday.
Raina, credited the win to his bowlers, who played a vital role in restricting the opponents to 140/6 off 20 overs.
"We bowled really well. The ball came on slowly, and it was holding a bit," he said when asked about the Kingsmead pitch.
Badrinath who scored 47, was awarded the man of the match for his brilliant knock on a slow track.
"The ball wasn't coming on. So, we decided to take our time, had a couple of partnerships and that's what got us home. Once you take your time, you can play your shots," said Badrinath after Chennai won their last group match against Yorkshire by 4 wickets.
"We were unlucky in a couple of close games, 10 runs either side. But we'll come back stronger next year," Badrinath added.
