Mumbai, Oct 30: Manoj Tiwary missed out on a century as he fell for 93 but took India A past 350 on the opening day of their three-day warm-up game against England at the Brabourne Stadium here on Tuesday.
Left-hander Yuvraj Singh brightened his chances of a Test recall with a fine 59 as Suresh Raina failed. Tiway too has impressed the selectors today but will he get the nod in an already settled Test line-up remains to be seen on November 5.
At stumps on first day, India A made 369/9 in 90 overs. There were three half centuries by the hosts batsmen. Opener Abhinav Mukund scored 73.
Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann had three wickets apiece. Bresnan took two in two balls but Ashok Dinda denied him a hat-trick.
Tiwary took 150 balls for his 93 and scored 12 boundaries.
England were hampered by the absence of their main bowler Steven Finn, who limped off the ground due to thigh problem, after bowling just four overs. He was set to have a scan on his right leg to know the extent of the injury, according to a report on England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) website.

Yuvraj Singh won his battle with Suresh Raina for the India Test team's number six slot as he made a half century for India A against England on the opening day of the three-day warm-up game here at the Brabourne Stadium on Tuesday.
At tea, India A were 224/6 in 57 overs. Yuvraj hit seven fours and four sixes in his 80-ball 59. The left-hander was stumped out by Matt Prior off Graeme Swann. Manoj Tiwary and Irfan Pathan are at the crease.
India A lost three wickets in the second session of the day. Raina fell for 20, while batting at number five. Yuvraj batted at No. 4.
Opener Abhinav Mukund scored 73 runs to take India A to 113/3 in 24.5 overs at lunch on the opening day of their three-day warm-up game against England at the Brabourne Stadium here on Tuesday.
After having won the toss and electing to bat, India A lost Murali Vijay early. The right-hander was run out for just seven runs. However, the other opener, Mukund played well to reach his half century. The left-hander fell at the stroke of lunch for 73. He faced 83 balls and scored 16 boundaries.
At the end of morning session, Yuvraj Singh was batting on 27. Anjinkya Rahane was the other batsman out. He was dismissed for just four runs.
For England, Tim Bresnan and Graeme Swann took one wicket apiece.
Captain Suresh Raina is likely to come out and bat at number five after lunch. Both Yuvraj and Raina are battling for the number six spot in the Test team.
Kevin Pietersen returned to England side after a gap of few months.
