Mumbai, Oct 31: Bengal all-rounder Manoj Tiwary drew attention on Day one of the tour game against England, as he scored a magnificent 93 for India A at Mumbai, and said that he is ready to play Test cricket ahead of the four-match Test series against England starting Nov 15.
Manoj Tiwary who scored his 12th half century in first class cricket ensured that India A posted a decent total, as Abhinav Mukund gave them a good start as he made a fabulous 73, while Yuvraj Singh also joined the party, adding 59 runs off just 80 balls, as Tiwary continued later.
Having made 93 off 150 balls, which included 6 sixes and 7 boundaries, Manoj Tiwary said that he was eagerly waiting for his Test debut especially after proving his worth time and again.
"I am ready for Test cricket. There is a competition for the No. 6 spot, but it's up to the selectors. I will try my best. Let's see what happens," Bengal captain said.
Talking about his performance, Tiwary said he was disappointed for not completing his hundred but was satisfied with the knock as he fell 7 runs short of a hundred as Bresnan dismissed him for 93.
"I am quite happy with my performance, though, I am disappointed for missing out on my hundred. I wanted to stay long on the wicket. I was definitely waiting for an opportunity," said Tiwary, who batted for 202 minutes and faced 150 balls.
"They are a quality attack but did not try to go all out. The wicket was a bit slow," Tiwary, who struck 12 boundaries during his stay at the wicket, said.
Talking about the four-match Test series, Tiwary said though the visitors have a good bowling attack, their batsmen would find it difficult to tackle Indian spinners.
"They have got a big challenge ahead. It's not going to be easy for them against our quality spinners. They are going to face a lot of problems," Tiwary said.
He further added that he was inspired by Cancer-fighter Yuvraj Singh, who has battled a rare germ cell cancer and made a strong comeback to the side.
Moreover, he also added that he watches a lot of inspirational videos that makes him feel confident irrespective of his performance.
"I enjoy watching inspirational videos. I never let my confidence drop, whether I get a zero or a hundred. Yuvraj Singh is a great inspiration, the way he has come back after battling cancer to play again. It's unbelievable," he said.
