Bangalore, Nov 1: India captain MS Dhoni will not be part of Jharkhand Ranji Trophy squad for their opening game against Jammu and Kashmir from November 2. Dhoni, who is indisposed had requested Jharkhand selectors to not pick him for the game.

With most of the Indian players set to turn up for their respective Ranji Trophy sides, Dhoni will be the lone player who will be conspicuous by his absence in star line-ups assembling across the country on Friday.
"For the last six or seven years, I have been playing for India regularly and this time the local association asked me whether I was fit or not. I told them that I have cough and cold and not to consider me for selection," Dhoni was quoted as saying during a fitness training centre inauguration in Delhi on Wednesday.
Earlier, reports had emerged that Dhoni, as he is known for, was not reachable by Jharkhand State Cricket Association (JSCA) officials when they wanted to know whether the skipper was available for selection.
The JSCA officials had tried contacting Dhoni on his mobile phone but was not reachable, according to various reports in the media.
When VVS Laxman too tried contacting Dhoni to speak about his retirement, the Jharkhandi was not available. And Dhoni himself had admitted that he has been like that.
In the last five years, Dhoni has not played a single game for Jharkhand and it will remain the same for some more time.
