IPL 6: Teams announce squads; 179 players retained

IPL 6: Franchises name initial squads

Bangalore, Nov 2: Franchises have submitted the initial squads for the sixth edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League, as 179 players have got their contracts extended.

Hyderabad franchise has also retained 20 players who were a part of the Deccan Chargers squad in the fifth edition of IPL.

The franchises have a salary cap upto Rs. 12.5 million to spend on the squad for the sixth edition of IPL (upto 33 players which includes 11 overseas players)

Trading window will open on Nov 19, 2012, while the franchises will also be allowed to sign uncapped Indian players.

While franchises also have an option of re-signing the players who replaced a few players temporarily in IPL 5.
