Ghaziabad (Uttar Pradesh), Nov 2: It was a flop show from Delhi's batting stars on the opening day of their Ranji Trophy game against Uttar Pradesh here on Friday.
Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli and Unmukt Chand failed to make an impact after Uttar Pradesh invited Delhi to bat first.
In recent times, questions have been raised over Sehwag-Gambhir pair for India. To add to that debate, the duo failed ahead of the first Test against England which starts in Ahmedabad on November 15.
Sehwag was out for 25 to Praveen Kumar while Gambhir made 32 before falling to Imtiyaz Ahmed. Kohli, who has succeeded for India in all three formats in the past few months, could not replicate that for his local team. Kohli was sent back to pavilion by Bhuvnesh Kumar for just 14 runs.
Under-19 World Cup winning captain Chand, who played his first game for Delhi since winning that coveted trophy in Australia, made 28.
With the stars failing, Delhi were bowled out for 235 on the opening day.
