Bangalore, Nov 5: Karnataka governor HR Bharadwaj, on Sunday, unveiled the bust of late M Chinnaswamy at the international cricket stadium, named after him here. Chinnaswamy served as the President of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) and Secretary of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Former cricketers were in attendance at the M Chinnaswamy stadium to pay rich tributes to the man who was instrumental in the development of the game in Karnataka.
Former India captain and now the President of KSCA Anil Kumble called Chinnaswamy a fine administrator. KSCA Secretary Javagal Srinath too hailed Chinnaswamy's contribution to the state of Karnataka. Another former India captain and recently retired Rahul Dravid too was present.
Former cricketers EAS Prasanna, Syed Kirmani and GR Viswanath were also present and praised Chinnaswamy.
Chinnaswamy's family was also at the stadium for the function.
Chinnaswamy was secretary of KSCA between 1953 and 1978. And later he was the President of KSCA from 1978 to 1990.
In BCCI, he was Secretary between 1960 and 1965 and President of BCCI between 1977 and 1980.
Chinnaswamy died in 1991, at the age of 91.
