Mumbai, Nov 5: Nick Compton came into reckoning for first India Test selection with a half century as the England-Mumbai A game ended in a draw here on Monday.
The right-handed Compton, who was dismissed for 0 in the first warm-up game against India A, spent more time in the middle in the second innings here to remain unbeaten on 64 off 162 balls on the third and final day.
The 29-year-old, who is yet to play a Test, could partner Alastair Cook in the first Test against India, starting in Ahmedabad on November 15.
At close, England finished with 149/2 in 52 overs in second innings. They had made 345 all out in first innings. Mumbai A were bowled out earlier today for 286 in 101.4 overs.
Ian Bell was the other undefeated batsman with Compton, on 28 when the curtains came down on the game.
England's next opponent in tour game is Haryana. They play in Ahmedabad from November 9.
