Sehwag, who has so far played 98 Tests, will reach the milestone on November 23 in the second Test in Mumbai if he plays both first and second Tests.

"It was my dream to play for my country. Since the time I achieved that, my next dream has been to perform well and play 100 Tests for India. I am very happy that moment is coming soon," Sehwag was quoted as saying in the media on Tuesday.

The opener will be the ninth Indian in the 100-Test club. Sachin Tendulkar is the most capped Indian with 190 Tests. The next two are Rahul Dravid (163) and VVS Laxman (134).

The 34-year-old right-hander will also be the first Delhi player to be in the elite group.

Sehwag made his Test debut on November 3, 2001 against South Africa. It was a sensational first game as he struck a century batting at number six.

Since 2001, Sehwag has gone on to become one of the most prolific run scorers in the history of Test cricket. He has changed the way five-day cricket is played.

His fearless approach at the batting crease and the pace at which he scores runs, have been the hallmarks of this Delhi batsman. Though he is going through a lean patch in recent times, he came be back in form in the next innings. He showed such signs when he scored a century for Delhi in Ranji Trophy against Uttar Pradesh a few days back.

Sehwag has gone without a Test hundred for more than two years now. His last Test ton was against New Zealand in Ahmedabad in November 2010. He returns to the same venue for his 99th Test and could turn around his fortunes.

So far, in 98 Tests, he has 8,306 runs with 22 hundreds at 50.64. Sehwag is the only Indian to have scored a triple hundred and that too twice. His highest is 319 and also has a 309 besides a 293.
