Brisbane, Nov 11: Jacques Kallis and Hashim Amla struck centuries as South Africa scored 450 all out(injured JP Duminy did not bat) in 151.4 oversagainst Australia on third day of first Test here at Gabba on Sunday.
In reply, Australia were in early trouble losing three wickets for 40 in less than 10 overs. Ricky Ponting was out for duck. But they ended third day at 111/3 in 26 overs. Ed Cowan is on 49 not out while captain Michael Clarke is unbeaten on 34.
After the entire day was washed out due to rain on Saturday, South Africa resumed their innings at 255/2.
Amla was the first to get to his 17th Test hundred. Kallis soon followed his partner, which was the right-hander's 44th in his 156th Test.
Amla was dismissed for 104, LBW to Peter Siddle while Kallis' innings was ended at 147 by James Pattinson. Amla hit seven fours and a six in his 244-ball knock. Kallis took 274 deliveries for his 147 and had 14 fours and a six.
For Australia, Pattinson was the pick of the bowlers with 3/93. Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus and Nathan Lyon had two scalps apiece.
Kallis and Amla associated for 165 runs for the third wicket. South Africa were bowled out in the final session of play.
