Ahmedabad, Nov 18: Alastair Cook and Matt Prior defied Indian bowlers on the fourth day of the first Test here at Sardar Patel Stadium on Sunday. Cook's unbeaten 168 and Matt Prior's 84 not out took England to 340/5, a lead of 10.

Cook's big hundred and Prior's half century kept England's fight going. The duo was involved in a century partnership for the sixth wicket after the visitors were left in trouble at 199/5.

Captain Cook was exceptional in his long vigil at the crease.
