Mumbai, Nov 22: A day after BCCI announced Pepsi as the title sponsors for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League, the governing council of IPL, also confirmed that the players auction will be held at Chennai or Kolkata in January 2013.
According to sources, players auction is all set to be held on Jan 12, 2013 at Chennai or eight days later in Kolkata, as the governing council headed by Rajeev Shukla discussed about the auction on Wednesday.
It is also learnt that Kings XI Punjab have decided to pay a penalty of Rs 1 crore to BCCI in order to sort out the issues between the board and the franchise as they had dragged them to the court after the contract was terminated for alleged breach of regulations.
"Kings XI have sorted out their differences with BCCI by deciding to pay the penalty," a source said.
After Sialkot Stallions' participation in the Champions League T20, Pakistan cricketers' participation in the sixth edition will also be decided in the governing council meeting before the auction.
Pakistan cricketers haven't played the cash-rich IPL since 2008, after the Mumbai terror attacks.
