Adelaide, Nov 25: Australia paceman James Pattinson has been ruled out of the remaining four Tests of the season due to a left side strain, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Sunday.
Cricket Australia (CA) advises that Pattinson has sustained a left side strain/rib injury which will rule him out of the remaining four Tests this summer, a CA media release said.
Pattinson, who is part of the ongoing second Test against South Africa at Adelaide Oval, left the field on Saturday due to a side strain. However, he batted on Sunday during fourth day's play but did not bowl in the second innings.
Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: "James Pattinson sustained a left lower rib injury, similar to a ‘side strain' on day three of the Vodafone Test which will effectively rule him out of contention for the remaining Tests this summer.
"Whilst side strains are not uncommon in bowlers, James' injury involves some damage to the end of the rib and will need further investigation at the completion of this Test to determine the best course of management and the time frame to return to bowling."
