Adelaide, Nov 26: Australia, on Monday, recalled Shane Watson and paceman Mitchell Johnson while dropping Rob Quiney for the third and final Test against South Africa in Perth starting from November 30.
The hosts have named a 14-man squad which includes three extra fast bowlers. Apart from Johnson, Josh Hazlewood and John Hastings have been called up. Batsman Quiney, who played at number three, was out for ducks in both innings of Adelaide Test.
Former captain Ricky Ponting managed to hold onto his place even after three failures in the series.
James Pattinson, who was part of Monday's drawn Test in Adelaide had been ruled out of four Tests this summer. He did not bowl in second innings after suffering side strain in the first innings.
Commenting on the squad, National Selector John Inverarity said: "Shane Watson is ready to play and replaces Rob Quiney, while James Pattinson was not considered for selection due to injury. The pace bowling stocks in the squad have been boosted with the addition of the experienced Mitchell Johnson, John Hastings and emerging paceman Josh Hazlewood."
He said there is a possibility of playing four quicks in Perth.
"There is a possibility that the final XI could include four pace bowlers. Six quicks in the squad provides some options and recognises the demanding work shouldered by Peter Siddle and Ben Hilfenhaus in the first two Vodafone Tests against South Africa," he added.
Australia squad: Michael Clarke (captain), Shane Watson, Ed Cowan, David Warner, Ricky Ponting, Mike Hussey, Matthew Wade, Peter Siddle, Ben Hilfenhaus, Mitchell Starc, Nathan Lyon, John Hastings, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Johnson.
