Kolkata, Nov 28: BCCI on Wednesday has sent a mail to Bengal cricket association asking to appoint Ashish Bhowmick, the East Zone curator to take charge of Eden Gardens in Kolkata, sidelining Prabir Mukherjee, who was in charge of the 22-yard strip.

According to a report on an English News Channel Times Now, BCCI has sent an urgent mail to Cricket Association of Bengal stating them to appoint Ashish Bhowmick as the curator for Eden Gardens.

BCCI backs Dhoni, replaces Eden curator

Do your homework before asking for turners: Naik

The curator who has been in charge of the 22 yard strip since 14 years, has been sidelined due to differences related to pitch, as Dhoni insisted on turners from Day one of the Test match.

It is learnt that Mukherjee wanted a written document from BCCI to prepare a turner at Eden Gardens, which led to a few differences, forcing BCCI to inform Bengal Cricket to appoint Ashish Bhowmick as the new curator of Eden pitch, that is expected to host the third Test between India and England.

Team India skipper MS Dhoni, who has been asking for turners for Test matches against England, was advised not to ask for another spin-friendly track at Kolkata by former India skipper Sourav Ganguly since it would pose a threat to India's batting line-up.

Moreover, Sudhir Naik, Wankhede curator who offered a turner at Mumbai which assisted spinners from Day 1, proved to a spin trap for Indians as they suffered a humiliating 10-wicket loss to England.
