Kolkata, Dec 5: Sachin Tendulkar scored his first half century in 11 innings but England held the advantage on the first day of the third Test at Eden Gardens on Wednesday.

Tendulkar battled hard for his 76 runs before falling to James Anderson. It was his first half century since January 2012. Tendulkar, when on 2, completed 34,000 international runs.

Gautam Gambhir was the other batsman who scored a fifty for India. But others disappointed as England bowlers had a good day.
