Kolkata, Dec 6: England's James Anderson has dismissed Sachin Tendulkar on eight occasions in Tests, the most by any fast bowler which includes the batting legend's wicket on the first day of the Eden Test on Wednesday.
According to stats, eight bowlers have dismissed Tendulkar five times or more in Tests while James Anderson tops the list having claimed the batting maestro's wicket on eight occasions.
Glenn McGrath (6), Jason Gillespie (6), Brett Lee (5) and Allan Donald (5), while the late Hansie Cronje also managed to claim the batting maestro's wicket on five occasions.
Interestingly, Cronje has claimed only 43 wickets off 68 Tests and that includes dismissing Sachin Tendulkar on five occasions.
Talking about Sachin Tendulkar's dismissal, Anderson said he was very happy with the batting maestro's wicket but attributed his success on spinner-friendly track to Zaheer Khan. Since he had observed the pace spearhead during their previous tour.
"His was a crucial wicket, I was delighted. He looked scratchy early on but can be dangerous if he gets going. So I am very pleased. His was the big one. He is such a class player and could have gone on to score a big hundred. We got him just at the right time," Anderson said after stumps on Day 1.
"It is a nice thing to have and probably (I will) think more about that in years to come and when retired will tell people that's happened," said Anderson on becoming the most successful bowler against Tendulkar.
Having dismissed Tendulkar on 76 on Day One of the third Test on Wednesday, Anderson equalled Muttaiah Muralitharan's record of eight dismissals.
