Nagpur, Dec 17: There has been speculation since Sunday that Sachin Tendulkar might announce his retirement after the Nagpur Test against England.
The presence of Tendulkar's wife Anjali at the Vidarbha Cricket Association (VCA) Stadium to watch the fourth day's play on Sunday has given way to retirement talks. However, so far nothing has been confirmed by the man himself or Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
Tendulkar, who has appeared in a record 194 Tests, has been under fire for non-performance in recent past. He is without a Test hundred since January 2011.
On the fifth and final day of Nagpur Test, Tendulkar was off the field after 1 hour of play. He did not return to field till the lunch interval, which further led to quitting rumours.
Tendulkar's wife Anjali was seen with R Ashwin's wife Prithi in one of the stands at the stadium.
"The Times of India" newspaper quoted a BCCI source saying Anjali's presence has nothing to do with retirement speculation.
"She tours with him sometimes during home Tests. It's nothing unusual. Sachin will certainly discuss his retirement with top BCCI officials. Everyone will know when that will happen," a BCCI source told the newspaper.
We will have to wait till Monday evening to know what is the truth.
