Bangalore, Dec 28: India can become number one One Day International team again in the ICC ODI rankings if they win the opening ODI against Pakistan in Chennai on Sunday.
India are currently placed third and Pakistan fifth. MS Dhoni-led side will catapult to number one position in the ICC ODI Championship table by winning the first of the three matches against Pakistan in Chennai. The opening ODI is a day game and will be played at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
India now have 3,598 points (120 rating points). The top spot is now held by England with 3,016 points (121 rating points). If India win on Sunday they will jump to 3,752 points and 121 rating points. Pakistan will remain at fifth.
If India win 3-0 over Pakistan, they will have 123 rating points. Even if they win on Sunday and lose one of the other two matches, they will slip from top spot.
Second and third ODIs of the series will be played in Kolkata (January 3) and Delhi (January 6) respectively.
