Bangalore, Jan 2: The Ranji Trophy 2012-13 has entered the quarter-finals' stage. The league phase ended on Tuesday, January 1 and 8 teams from three groups have progressed to the knockout stage.
Punjab, Mumbai, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh, Baroda, Saurashtra, Services and Jharkhand are the 8 teams left in the fray now in India's premier first-class competition.
Punjab, Saurashtra and Mumbai have progressed from Group A. Uttar Pradesh, Baroda and Karnataka are the three teams from Group B, while Services and Jharkhand are Group C.
Defending champions Rajasthan failed to qualify this time. They finished a dismal 8th in Group A.
The Ranji Trophy's new format this year saw 27 teams divided into three groups. After the league phase, Uttar Pradesh have been the best in terms of points, with 33. Next best is Punjab with 32 points. They both topped Group A and B respectively. In Group C, Services took the top spot with 26 points.
