Bangalore, Jan 8: Though a thrilling 10-run win was a consolation for the hosts, Team India skipper's man of the match award for the 3rd ODI has created a flutter.

Since there were many players who had performed better than the skipper, the decision to award Dhoni, the man of the match has not gone well with many players.

India's Ravindra Jadeja also picked up a wicket for 19 runs off 10 overs, and hit 27 runs to help India reach 167, when the hosts were struggling at 111/6 in the 29th over.

MS Dhoni was given MOM award to boost his self esteem?

Team India skipper received 2 awards in the ODI series when there were other players who had performed better than the skipper, including the first MOM award in Chennai on Dec 30, 2012

Since everyone had played a part in the team's victory, other Indian cricketers or Pakistan's Saeed Ajmal could have won the award.

Dhoni, top scored for India with 36 runs in the 3rd ODI and had effected two dismissals against Pakistan.

According to a TOI report, the award was given to Dhoni to boost his confidence especially after the morale had dropped following two series defeats within a month.

Though it wasn't the first time Dhoni was preferred in the series, the first ODI at Chennai also witnessed a similar situation, as Nasir Jamshed had also scored a century and ended up on the winning side but Dhoni's 113 was preferred and was awarded the man of the match which irked Pakistan.

Where are we heading by doing all these is something that the officials need to answer at the earliest!
