Karachi, Jan 9: Pakistan's mystery spinner Saeed Ajmal happy with the team winning a series in India, said he has got used to not being rewarded for his performance while talking about MS Dhoni being awarded the man of the match award in the third ODI at Feroz Shah Kotla on Sunday.
The mysterious spinner having claimed 5/24 in the third and final ODI against India to restrict the hosts to 167, provided another opportunity for Pakistan to win the match and complete a rare whitewash.
But Indians bowled and fielded very well to snatch a thriller as Pakistan lost by 10 runs.
Though there were a couple of good performances, including the 35-year-old's 5/24, Ravindra Jadeja's 1/19 and 27 that helped India post 167, Ishant's three wickets, B Kumar's two wicket haul, MS Dhoni was adjudged the man of the match.
According to reports, Dhoni was awarded the man of the match to boost his self esteem, which did not go well with Pakistan, as they expected Saeed Ajmal to bag the award.
When asked Ajmal about the award, he said "I am used to these things. Remember I even didn't get the ICC award. For me the biggest reward was to see our team do well in India."
Having registered a series win against MS Dhoni's men in India, Saeed Ajmal revealed that the team's perspective to take it as a challenge helped them win the ODI series 2-1, after 26 years.
"That was our simple formula for success," he insisted.
"We looked at it (the series in India) as a challenge. We felt if we beat them in their own backyard then it will pose a challenge before them to come and try to win in Pakistan. I hope this happens soon," Ajmal told 'Jang' newspaper.
Pakistan toured India after a gap of five years and registered a series win on Indian soil. Talking about the same, Ajmal felt the Indian team should come and play a series against Pakistan in Pakistan in the future.
