Dhoni's captaincy is under scanner especially after another series loss to Pakistan, making it 4 in a row since June 2011.
With two series defeats against England (Tests and ODI series), one each against Australia (Test series) and Pakistan (ODI series), critics have been blaming the captain for the team's dismal show after the World Cup.
Talking to CNN-IBN during an interview, former Pakistan cricketer turned politician said "Captains always get the blame when teams do badly."
"However, in my opinion, Dhoni is a very good captain: he has a big heart and he takes pressure very well," he said.
Imran Khan also pointed out Team India's inability to take wickets, and batsmen failure to contribute, which was responsible for the team's losses against England and Australia in Tests.
"Unfortunately India just doesn't have the bowlers to take 20 wickets. So you can't blame a captain that doesn't have the bowling attack. You need bowlers to win test matches, India doesn't have bowlers. And the batsmen also failed in testing conditions."
Imran Khan's only advice to Dhoni, "He shouldn't bat at number 6. It's too low down the order. He's a good enough player to lead from the front."
