Melbourne, Jan 14: Captain Michael Clarke has returned to Australia squad for the third and fourth One Day Internationals against Sri Lanka, Cricket Australia (CA) announced on Monday. Also coming back to the team are David Warner and wicketkeeper Matthew Wade. The trio had been rested for the opening two games.
A 12-man squad has been named for January 18 and January 20 matches at Brisbane and Sydney respectively. All-rounder Moises Henriques makes a comeback to the team after having been sidelined since 2009.
The CA selectors dropped Steve Smith, Usman Khawaja, Aaron Finch, Kane Richardson and Ben Cutting. Brad Haddin missed out due to hamstring injury sustained during second ODI.
Commenting on the squad, National Selector John Inverarity said: "Changes to the squad that played the first two matches of the Series are the return of Michael Clarke, David Warner and Matthew Wade, after having a break. Moises Henriques also comes into the squad as a genuine all-rounder whose bowling will be suited to conditions often found at the Gabba.
"Moises is a young man who has shown promise for some years with both the bat and the ball. This will be an opportunity for him to impress as we look for a good seam bowling all-rounder."
Meanwhile, Steve Rixon will take over the Head Coach's role for the third Commonwealth Bank Series match in Brisbane while Mickey Arthur returns home to spend some time with his family. Arthur will re-join the squad in Sydney on Saturday.
The squad will assemble in Brisbane on 15 January ahead of the third Commonwealth Bank Series match against Sri Lanka at the Gabba on Friday 18 January.
The five-match series is currently tied 1-1.
Australia squad: Michael Clarke (captain), George Bailey, Xavier Doherty, Moises Henriques, Phil Hughes, David Hussey, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.
