Kochi, Jan 14: There was a surprise visitor in the swimming pool of England team hotel here on Sunday. England players were "freaked out" to see a sea snake in the pool as they were about to enter water.
England paceman Stuart Meaker was the first to spot the snake in the pool at the Taj Malabar Hotel where the team is staying. England and India are in Kochi to play the second One Day International on Tuesday.
"The Sun" newspaper quoted Meaker as saying that he was "freaked out" after spotting the three-feet long serpent.
"I'd just dipped my toe in the pool and this thing slithered past. It freaked me out - it was a sea snake. I grabbed a hotel worker's attention and they took it out. They said it was not venomous," Meaker was quoted.
"I still went for a swim afterwards, but rest assured I had my goggles on and was looking every which way to make sure there was nothing else," Meaker added.
England batsman Eoin Morgan wrote on his Twitter page (@Eoin16) "Sea snake in the pool at the hotel!! I think a bath might be the safe option."
