London, Jan 21: England's Monty Panesar has been cleared by his county side Sussex to participate in next month's auction for the sixth edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League.

According to a report on a leading cricket portal cricinfo, Monty Panesar is among the three cricketers to have been given permission to appear in the IPL auction for the sixth edition of IPL.

While Ravi Bopara and Matt Prior are the other two cricketers who are playing for Sussex and Essex respectively.

Monty Panesar could attract more bids this time around in the auction since he has grabbed 17 wickets in the three Tests against India. Though Panesar and Prior were a part of the last auction, they remained unsold as the franchises weren't interested in bidding for these cricketers as they had to go for national duty during IPL.

The sixth edition of IPL could also face similar problems, as Monty Panesar will have to play a home series against New Zealand that begins on May 16.

The England and Wales Cricket Board has also asked the cricketers who are willing to participate in the cash-rich league, to return home ahead of the home series against New Zealand.

Since the sixth edition of IPL is scheduled to begin on Apr 3 and go on till May 26 2013 will again witness England players' involvement only for a couple of weeks.

If Panesar attracts the IPL franchises, his absence could hurt Sussex, his county side, as he would be missing the two games before representing England in the home series against New Zealand.
