Wankhede Stadium to host Ranji final

Mumbai, Jan 21: Wankhede Stadium will host the Ranji Trophy final between Mumbai and Saurashtra from January 26, Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced here on Monday.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) had requested the BCCI to host the final at the Wankhede Stadium as the venue was set to host ICC Women's World Cup 2013.

The opening World Cup Group A game between India and the West Indies, is scheduled for January 31 at the Wankhede Stadium. Now, ICC has to shifted this match.

MCA joint secretary Nitin Dalal had said on Sunday they would try to get the ICC Women World Cup match shifted from the Wankhede Stadium if Mumbai advance.

"If we enter the final we want to hold it at our stadium and not elsewhere. Why should we do so? We will ask the opening Women's World Cup match to be shifted to the nearby CCI," said Dalal on Sunday.

Mumbai, by virtue of first innings lead over Services, entered a record 44th final while Saurashtra are in their first ever title round of India's premier domestic tournament.
