New Delhi, Jan 22: Former India skipper Sourav Ganguly has said that Kevin Pietersen's failure has led to England's debacle in the ODI series against India as the hosts have taken a 2-1 lead in the on-going series.
A veteran of 113 Tests and 311 ODIs, Sourav Ganguly feels Kevin Pietersen's failure to pace his innings is the main reason for England's struggle during the ODI series against India.
He further elaborated on how Pietersen's form is affecting the visitors as he said the England batsman has been under-performing and has problems pacing his innings especially after the fall of the top order.
The most successful Indian Test captain ever, Ganguly further suggested that Alastair Cook or Kevin Pietersen should bat through the entire innings, else England cannot post a big total.
He further stated that if the visitors couldn't get past 275, it would be very difficult for them to beat the hosts in the remaining matches.
England were bowled out for 158 and 155 in the last two matches as the top order failed miserably on both occasions.
With scores of 42, 17 in the last two matches Kevin Pietersen needs to bounce back in the remaining ODIs in order to help England save pride as they have lost 2 matches already and another loss at Mohali could help India win the series 3-1.
