Mumbai, Jan 25: This could be the first in Ranji Trophy history. To make the most of Sachin Tendulkar's presence in the Mumbai team for Ranji Trophy final against Saurashtra, Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has decided to collect gate fees for two of the stands at Wankhede Stadium.
This season's Ranji Trophy final will be played between Mumbai and Saurashtra at Wankhede Stadium from tomorrow (January 26). Usually, all Ranji Trophy match venues are thrown open to the public for free.
It is always difficult to get spectators for domestic matches and in recent times, fans have even dwindled at Test match venues as well.
In this backdrop, it is a suprising move from MCA to charge for the public to watch their favourite cricketer - Tendulkar.
On its website, MCA announced: "Tickets for the Ranji Trophy final match between Mumbai & Saurashtra to be played at Wankhede Stadium from 26thto 30th January 2013 will be available at the Counter at Wankhede Stadium Gate No.2 and Gate No.6 on the match days from 8.00 am onwards."
MCA announced that North Stand/Vijay Merchant Pavilion will have Rs. 50 tickets while Garware Pavilion has Rs. 150 as entry fee.
