Mumbai, Jan 28: Mumbai's Dhawal Kulkarni and skipper Ajit Agarkar bundled out Saurashtra for 82 in the second innings as hosts registered their 40th Ranji Trophy title at Wankhede on Monday.
Ajit Agarkar (4/15) and Dhawal Kulkarni (5/32) saw Mumbai dominate the final on Day three after posting 355 in their first innings. Having restricted Saurashtra to 82, Mumbai created history as they won their 40th Ranji title in 44 appearances.
In the absence of Ravindra Jadeja and Cheteshwar Pujara, Saurashtra struggled to play their normal game after reaching Ranji Trophy final for the first time as they lost to Mumbai by an innings and 125 runs in the Ranji Trophy final.
With SH Kotak (0), SD Jogiyani (0), RR Dave (5), AV Vasavada (0), JN Shah (6), SP Jackson (9), KR Makwana (7), SM Sanandia (16) being dismissed cheaply, Saurashtra slumped to 58/8 after 27 overs at Tea on Day three of the final.
Dharmendrasinh Jadeja (22) and Jaidev Unadkat (9) were dismissed quickly after Tea, as Agarkar and Kulkarni picked a wicket each to reduce Saurashtra to 82 in their second innings.
Since Mumbai has featured 44 times in Ranji Trophy final so far and lost only four times, Ajit Agarkar-led has created history by winning it for the 40th time.
