Harbhajan Singh turns film producer!

Chandigarh, Jan 30: India's Harbhajan Singh dwelling on a new career has revealed that he is planning to don the role of a film producer, having shown interest in producing Punjabi movies.

Talking to reporters at an event, Harbhajan said one can make a lot of money investing on films.

"Most of the cricketers are doing side businesses apart from playing the sport, so why should I be left behind. I feel there is a lot of money in making films and since Punjabi cinema is doing good, this is a lucrative option for me," said Harbhajan who has represented India in 99 Tests and 229 ODIs.

Talking about his new venture, Bhajji said he is planning to produce two movies and admitted that cricket remains to be his passion and film production was just a business venuture.

"I am in talks with the leading actors in Bollywood and the Punjabi film industry. I have also finalised the directors for the two movies I am going to produce. The movies will be comedies and will entertain audiences in India and abroad," Harbhajan said in an event in Chandigarh on Tuesday.

Though the cricketer has been a part of a couple of reality shows, he has clarified that he wouldn't act in movies.

"Cricket is my passion, it is my first love. So I will not act in my movies as they will just be a side business for me," said the Turbanator.

With Harbhajan also debuting as a film producer, he joins Yuvraj Singh's father Yograj Singh in the Punjabi film industry which is also known as Punjwood. Yograj has 36 Punjabi films to his credit.

Being an ardent fan of Punjabi music, Harbhajan Singh said that the lyrics used in Punjabi songs are not in good taste. Apart from appealing to the writers, he has also recorded a four-minute song in order to convey the message to the concerned writers and singers.

"I am not against any particular singer or artist but the way some of the people are working these days is not good for Punjabi culutre. Being a Punjabi, I appeal to them to stop producing such content."
