Bangalore, Jan 31: India captain MS Dhoni, who was named in India Cements squad for BCCI's Corporate Trophy, will not be playing the tournament, according to a newspaper report on Thursday.
Dhoni, who was not picked for Irani Cup after he requested for rest ahead of the four-Test series against Australia, was chosen in India Cements team for Raj Singh Dungarpur Trophy tournament which is 50-over cricket. However, now it has been confirmed that he will take a break and be fresh ahead of the first Test against Australia on February 22 in Chennai.
BCCI President N Srinivasan-owned India Cements had named Dhoni as the company's Vice President a few days back. Srinivasan was hoping that Dhoni would turn up for India Cements in Corporate Trophy. But Dhoni has now decided to skip the tournament.
A report published in "The Indian Express" newspaper on Thursday said that Dhoni will not play for India Cements.
After the fifth and final One Day International against England in Dharamsala on January 27, Dhoni had expressed his desire to take a break from cricket. He had mentioned that he would skip Irani Cup between Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai and Rest of India.
Another Indian batsman Cheteshwar Pujara too will skip the Corporate Trophy as he won't be available for Indian Oil Corporation (IOCL).
The Corporate Trophy will be held in four cities, Pune, Nagpur, Indore and Raipur.
