Bangalore, Feb 1: Harbhajan Singh has quit as Mumbai Indians captain, a newspaper report claimed on Thursday (January 31).
According to "The Times of India" newspaper, Harbhajan has submitted his resignation to the team management.
However, so far there has been no confirmation from the team whether the offspinner has relinquished captaincy or there is any move to bring in a new leader for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 6).
Harbhajan captained Mumbai Indians to Champions League title in 2011 and also led the team in IPL 5.
There were reports that Rohit Sharms is tipped to be the next captain of Mumbai Indians.
The franchise recently roped in Anil Kumble as chief mentor and named John Wright as head coach.
This year's IPL will begin on April 3.
