Maxwell tops IPL 6 auction with $1m

Chennai, Feb 3: Australia's Glenn Maxwell was the only player to hit the million-dollar mark at the IPL 6 auction here on Sunday. Mumbai Indians bought the all-rounder for $1 million. In all 37 players were sold and $11.89 million was spent.

As many as 108 cricketers went under the hammer as the player auction for the sixth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 6) got under way here on Sunday.

Australians Michael Clarke and Ricky Ponting have the maximum reserve price of $400,000 each. Clarke had played for Pune Warriors last year and Ponting has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders.
