Mumbai, Feb 5: England's Anya Shrubsole and Arran Brindle destroyed West Indies women as they were bundled out for 100 as England women defeated their opponents by 6 wickets in a Group A tie of the ongoing ICC Women's World Cup at Bandra Kurla complex in Mumbai on Tuesday.
A win against West Indies also ensured a top spot for England women as they secured 4 points from 3 games including two wins.
Having elected to bat first, West Indies women were reeling at 31/6 after 14.3 overs. Kycia A Knight (0), SR Taylor (0), SA Campbelle (2), JB Nero (0), MR Aguilleira (4), DJS Dottin (4) all were dismissed cheaply as England's A Shrubsole, Brindle and Brunt picked 4, 3 and 2 wickets respectively.
While Kyshona A Knight (33) and SF Daley (30*) added 58 runs for the 7th wicket to ensure that the team's total reached the three-figure-mark.
Having bundled out for 100, England chased the target with ease as openers DN Wyatt (40) and A Brindle (14) added 66 runs for the first wicket, while HC Knight (18*) ensured that the team emerged victorious as they reached the target within 35 overs with 6 wickets in hand.
After their dismal performance with the bat, Windies women failed miserably to restrict the run flow, as they conceded 25 extras during England's innings which also helped the opponents to reach the target with ease.
Shrubsole was judged the man of the match for her match-winning performance in the Group A tie as England finished with 4 points.
