Bangalore, Feb 7: Soon after Mumbai Indians bought former Australia captain Ricky Ponting in the IPL 6 Player Auction, the batsman exchanged text messages with Sachin Tendulkar and said he was looking forward to playing with the Master Blaster.

On February 3, Sunday, Mumbai picked Ponting for $400,000 in the auction. It was Ponting's reserve price and Mumbai were the only one to bid for the Australian.
Ponting, who hit a century for Tasmania in Sheffield Shield on Wednesday (February 6), spoke to reporters after the end of day's play and said: "I sent him (Sachin Tendulkar) a message as soon as the auction was over just to say I'm looking forward to playing with him."
"He (Tendulkar) sent a message straight back saying the same thing. It will be great fun for us to play together," Ponting was quoted in the Australian media.
He further added: "We've played a lot against each other over the years and spent a little bit of time together off the field. I think I can still learn a fair bit from him as well. Hopefully he might even learn a few things off me."
"I really enjoyed the Big Bash and you enjoy a day like today. No doubt I'll enjoy the IPL," the right-hander said.
Tendulkar, who is back as Mumbai captain for IPL 6, might open the batting with Ponting this season. Ponting has previously played in IPL for Kolkata Knight Riders.
