Injured Warner to miss first warm-up

Chennai, Feb 9: Australia's David Warner has been ruled out of the first warm-up match against Board President's XI, starting on February 11 due to a fractured left thumb.

David Warner recovering from a fractured thumb also missed the first four ODIs against West Indies.

Talking about Warner and whether he would be available for the practice matches, Cricket Australia's media manager Matt Cenin said "As of now he is definitely ruled out of the first warm-up game"

While the team management is keeping a close eye on David Warner's injury, it is not clear whether he would be available for the second warm-up game that starts on Feb 16 against India A.

Australia will be playing four Tests at Chennai (Feb 22-26), Hyderabad (Mar 2-6), Mohali (Mar 14-18) and Delhi (Mar 22-26)

Eight Australian cricketers have already arrived in Chennai on Thursday night, while David Warner and others are expected to join the team on Tuesday.

Ed Cowan, Usman Khawaja, Moises Henriques, Steve Smith, James Pattinson, Peter Siddle, Jackson Bird and Nathan Lyon have arrived early to get accustomed to the conditions.
