Jaipur back as IPL 6 venue

Bangalore, Feb 11: Jaipur's Sawai Mansingh Stadium is back as an Indian Premier League (IPL) venue for the sixth edition, Rajasthan Royals announced on Monday. Jaipur will now host Royals' all eight home games.

Earlier, IPL Governing Council had decided to move all matches out of Jaipur to Gujarat.

"Rajasthan Royals will play ALL 8 of their home games at the Sawai Mann Singh Stadium, Jaipur," Royals tweeted (@rajasthanroyals) on Monday.

In another tweet, they wrote: "Let's make the Sawai Mann Singh Stadium our fortress! This year, let's be a force to reckon with at our homeland in Jaipur! Halla Bol!"

A PTI report on Sunday said a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) and the state government for host IPL matches in Jaipur.

"A MoU was signed between the RCA and the State Government which means that Jaipur would be hosting the home matches of the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL-6. We have also deposited post dated Cheques of Rs.20, 00,000 (Twenty Lakhs) for each match.

"Dr. CP Joshi the president of the RCA has shown a good gesture by giving a cheque of Rs 1 crore to the Government for utilizing it for the cause of other sports in state,"KK Sharma, the acting secretary of RCA, was quoted as saying in PTI report.

Royals, under Shane Warne's captaincy, won the inaugural edition of IPL in 2008.

This year's IPL begins on April 3.
